I’m thrilled to give you a little preview of our baby girl’s nursery-in-progress! As you can see, I decided to go with a mostly neutral color palette with some fun pops of pink thrown into the mix. I considered an all neutral nursery, but I wanted to use our floral sofa bed in the room and that required me to either slipcover it or go ahead and add some touches of pink to complement the tea rose pattern. I decided to go with the latter! Here’s what that pattern looks like:
It definitely has little girl written all over it, in my opinion! Once I decided on a color scheme I went crazy looking for ideas, of course. You can check out my inspiration board on Pinterest here. One of my favorite, most inspiring nurseries of all is this sweet space Jillian Harris designed for her little guy:
I borrowed quite a few of her ideas, from the heart pillow in the crib to the ottoman, and more! The space is just so dreamy I couldn’t help myself. After getting good and energized with design ideas, I used PowerPoint to create a nursery collage to guide me along the way (and to prevent me from buying a bunch of items that I would end up having to return later!). I may not be a professional designer, but I like to be able to visualize a room instead of haphazardly buying décor without a true picture of my end goal. Here’s that collage:
You can see that I have already picked up several of the items shown here. A few details about that…
Décor So Far
One of the first items we acquired for the space was a small children’s dresser in white (okay, I confess that I bought this before I made the collage. Believe it or not, I can make a decision without having to plan it out first…sometimes.). It came with plain silver knobs which I quickly updated. I found these beauties at Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Store of all places!
I also splurged a little on this white Moroccan leather ottoman from Indigo + Lavender. They ship it unstuffed so I grabbed some bean bag filling, some foam and a few pillow cases (also at Jo-Ann!) which filled it out rather nicely in no time!
This insanely adorable rabbit print is a digital download from AMELIEVintageCo on Etsy. It’s still waiting in the wings for when I decide how I want to frame it!
A few more things I’ve picked up along the way, as pictured in the first photo in this post:
- Wall décor and pink rug from Target
- Pom-pom pillow, nesting baskets, and faux sheepskin rug from Home Goods
- Melissa and Doug jumbo plush polar bear
- Old Navy metallic gold moccasins
Looking forward to sharing more once I add some final finishing touches! I’ll keep you posted.
